To create a campaign.
the Waste & Resources Action Programme (WRAP) made a campaign in the United Kingdom for people who love food, hate waste (in english the campaign is called "Love Food, Hate Waste") and they have recorded a reduction of 13% about waste during 3 years (2006-7/2010).
WRAP discovered that people organise, they create lists and they check which kind of food they have, they waste less food than ”.
The organization supports people to get the best from their wastes and to use food which is about to expire in new recipes."spontaneous buyers2."

Comunicate freshness :
On alimentary labels you could find different dates: 'preferably within', 'use within', 'sell-by date', 'sell within'. So the European Parliament suggested labels with double date in order to include 'sell within' and 'sell-by date'; however consumers need to be informed about the terminology used.
The date 'preferably within' refers to a minimum duration, after this date it is unlikely to create dangers for the consumer, however the flavour may not be as good as consumers expect to be.
Furthermore, industries should make dates standard and add preservation advice for the product in order to make it more durable.
Conservation
Freezers offer the opportunity to preserve products. Advice on the labels regarding freezing should be harmonized so that the consumers are able to freeze the food in a safe way. Sellers could also support consumers by promoting the use and so the sale of labels and pens for the freezer, containers for the storage, cooler bags and thermometers for refrigerators (to mantain the temperature between 0°C and 5°C).
Confection
Innovations in the packaging could reduce the waste (and above all enviromental impact), by improving the materials and aesthetic characteristics such as resealable packaging and developing intelligent films capable of indicating the loss of freshness by changing colour.

SLOW FOOD
Another important aspect and extremely close to families is the zero km food: in fact they're able to decrease the waste above all during the transport of the products.
Km zero food, also called short supply chain, comprises local products sold close to the place of production.
The so-called Farmer's markets are markets and/or shops where farmers directly meet the consumer selling their products without intermediaries and so without further increase on the final price.
Italy is a country full of raw materials such as fruit, vegetables, cereals and so on; this is the reason why it's fundamental to use products that are close to us in order to avoid waste and even to save money. effettuare modifiche..

Why is it good to do your shopping at km 0?
- Firstly, by shortening the supply chain from producer to consumer, a few steps and then some costs are cut down. The end result is a saving which is around 30 per cent of prices.
- Secondly, shopping at km 0 guarantees quality and freshness of the products: when coming directly from the producer, products haven’t spoiled because of damage caused by the time that accumulates during passages until point of sale.
- Finally, this kind of market contributes to improve the environment in a sensible way, cutting of 30% emissions of carbon dioxide, also due to a lower handling car (to go to do shop) and of trucks (to transport the products).
- During the transport, a lot of products are lost, so the amount of wasted goods increases; with the use of km 0 materials, the problem disappears and a part of the chain of wasting is prevented.
This problem concerns us very closely: in fact our area, the Pianura Padana, is full of cereals, as well as orchards; however, on the shelves of supermarkets foreign products are more and more frequent.
