take a look at our families
After having understood what is happening around the world regarding to food waste we focused on our families to understand if world datas were confirmed.
That's why we decided to monitor our houses' food waste for two weeks, weighing the waste and inserting the quantities in a table and dividing the result by the number of families.
41 families of basso lodigiano they involved themselves in this challenge and this is the result:

How much do we waste?
The graphic shows that the most consistent waste are the common products in our diet, so bread (264g), vegetables (234g), fruits (278g) and meat cooked or raw (135g over all).
From our survey we understood that datas are similar to the mondial ones.
These differences are probably due to the diversity with which, in some places of the world, we relate with certain types of food such as dairy products and its derivatives, present in some cultures, like the italian one, while absents or much lower in others, like the american one.

did we waste only food?
The food waste is not just about only in consuptions in terms of food, but also in terms of resources.
Infact to produce a determined product is about an use more or less big of water, so when we get rid of something we also get rid of water.
We have decided to calculate how much water we had wasted based on datas we collected in our families and that is the result:

Quantitive of water waste per person based on food waste of 41 families for two weeks.
Our waste of meat (9.5%) produced 56% of the total water consumption.
We must notice that one of the food less wasted has consumed more water than the others all together.
